This movie is really great, we love it. Its so funny you have to see it. I show it all of my friends.
Oh, go ahead, it's only Science Fiction, but get vaccinated just in case. And be prepared to watch the movie a couple of times. If time travel was easy.if time travel was easyy.if time travel was easyyy.
I came across this DVD in the local public library, I'm a fan of scifi but didn't know about this movie. It's the kind of movie that stays with you a bit after you've watched it. However, any atmosphere or intended resonance from music in the film is missed in the captions. This film really blew me away. It is because of another review that I realized the music playing in the empty store near the start of the film doesn't come across in the captions at all. I hesitated in seeing this film, I was afraid it would be like seeing a movie about HIV/AIDS, or about the Andromeda Strain. It was the collector's edition I saw. I'm deaf and the closed captions worked just fine.
I left it on the shelf every time I saw it in the library, several times. But I finally decided to go for it, and now I'm really glad I watched it. The captions never says anything if any music plays or what its mood might be. But missing this doesn't appear to have really affected that much my enjoyment of this film as a deaf person.
Avoid at all costs. Cheap production values.
Great acting by a stellar cast. Dystopian, but in an angry and pointless way.
Tediously dull. Brad Pitt should have won an Academy Award.
But Gilliam ruined it with his trademark film noir style, bleak, sarcastic, and dull. And to call this science fiction insults all real science fiction movies.
Hang with some bums under an overpass in the winter and you'll have a sense of what you missed plus you will have a better time.
One of the great modern cinematic classics, 12 Monkeys looks beautiful and gracious on BluRay, It is very nice to see a film such as this get the treatment it deserves. Cheers.
